The highway connecting Parachinar to the rest of Kurram Agency remains blocked for the 110th consecutive day, causing severe shortages of essential supplies and leaving residents facing starvation.

Sources report that preparations for a military operation were made in four village councils of Lower Kurram, with forces already establishing control over several positions. Police confirm a significant troop presence in the area.

Residents of Lower Kurram are protesting the impending operation, rejecting what they describe as a unilateral military action. The Turi and Bangash tribes have issued a 6 PM deadline to the government, citing more than ten violations of a previous peace agreement.

They warn that failure to reopen the highway and ensure the safety of the region will result in their withdrawal from the agreement and the formulation of their own course of action.

District administration officials acknowledge delays in the demolition of bunkers, stating that eight bunkers belonging to both sides have been destroyed so far.

Tragically, the prolonged blockade has claimed two more children’s lives, bringing the total death toll among children to 157. The Medical Superintendent of Parachinar District Headquarters Hospital, Dr Syed Mir Hassan Jan, reported that 38 of these deaths occurred at his facility alone. The ongoing blockade continues to create a humanitarian crisis in the region.
