“The PTI will challenge the decision against Khan and his wife in the high court,” he told reporters outside the Adiala Jail.

The hearing of the case was held in the prison where the PTI founder is kept.

In a landmark decision, an accountability court in Adiala Jail sentenced the PTI founder under Section 10-A of the NAB Ordinance 1999. The court found the founder guilty of corruption, leading to a sentence of 14 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs1 million.

Should the founder fail to pay the fine, an additional 6 months of imprisonment would be imposed, the court said.

His wife Bushra Bibi has also been found guilty of aiding in the crime, resulting in a sentence of seven years of rigorous imprisonment under the same ordinance. She has also been fined Rs500,000, with a further 3-month sentence added for non-payment of the fine.

The court has ordered the seizure of Al-Qadir Trust University, placing it under the custody of the federal government.

“Khan laughed after the decision and described it as an unjust decision,” he added.
