Punjab education dept unveils new admission policy, exam dates

The Punjab Education Department has released a comprehensive schedule for educational activities, annual examinations, and a new admission policy for the Rawalpindi division, effective from January 15 to May 31.

According to an official circular, the academic year 2025-26 will commence on April 1. Admissions for early grades, including Junior Class Prep and Nursery Class I, will open on February 3.

The annual examination timeline includes Matriculation exams beginning on March 4, Class IX exams starting on March 21, and Intermediate exams scheduled for the first week of May.

Admissions in government schools will occur in two phases:

Phase 1: April 1 to May 31 for Classes I and II.

Phase 2: August 15 to October 31 for additional intakes.

Annual exams for Classes I to VIII will be conducted from March 12 to March 25, with results announced on March 31. Notably, each class will permit new admissions up to 10% of the total student capacity, thereby limiting the overall number of new enrollments in government schools.

The President of the All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association (APPSMA), Abrar Ahmad Khan, announced that private schools will begin their admissions on February 1, with annual exams scheduled for February. The new academic year for private schools is set to begin in March.
