The initiative aims to enhance traffic flow, reduce accidents, and ensure the safety of commuters, particularly those using bicycles and motorcycles.

The project would feature four kilometres of dedicated lanes on both sides of the road, extending from Kalma Chowk to Lahore Bridge (Qainchi), the Lahore Development Authority officials told the newspaper.

The lanes would be separated from the main roadway by low-height concrete walls, and work has already commenced by the LDA’s urban development team.

They added that the pilot project could pave the way for similar developments on other major roads in Lahore, including Jail Road, The Mall, Multan Road, Wahdat Road, and Canal Road, depending on the success of the initial phase.
