Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader Irfan Siddiqui has questioned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership’s approach to ongoing negotiations with the government. He expressed doubt about the purpose of the negotiations, given the government’s short remaining term.

In a recent interview on News Insight with Aamer Zia, he also questioned the formation of the PTI’s committee, suggesting it was illogical given the government’s perceived lack of authority.

Siddiqui explained that the negotiations had begun at the PTI’s request, but criticized the lack of progress a month after the committee’s formation on December 5, noting that their demands still lacked concrete form. He asserted that maintaining positive relations with the establishment was a priority.

He further voiced frustration over the prolonged period of negotiations, highlighting the lack of progress despite over a year and a half of effort.

He implied criticism of the PTI’s apparent reliance on external influence, questioning their justification for allowing outside interference. He emphasized Pakistan’s sovereignty and its right to make independent decisions.

Finally, he alluded to the failed attempt to apprehend Shakil Afridi, suggesting that if external forces were truly influential, they should be able to achieve results within Pakistan as well.

His comments overall conveyed a strong sense of distrust towards the PTI’s negotiating tactics and a belief that external forces were improperly influencing the political process.
