New cold wave set to envelop Karachi

A severe cold wave is gripping the nation, with an increase in cold intensity anticipated in Karachi starting January 4.

Reports indicated that freezing temperatures continue to affect most cities, while Skardu
experiences ongoing snowfall and Ghizer is blanketed in white.

In Kalam, lakes and waterfalls have frozen due to the extreme cold. Several areas in Balochistan have also seen rainfall, with temperatures plummeting to minus 9 degrees Celsius in Skardu and minus 8 degrees Celsius in Layyah.

Dense fog in Punjab and Sindh has led to the closure of multiple motorways, creating travel difficulties for many.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasted dry weather to persist across Punjab, including Lahore, although a rain-bearing system is expected to enter Pakistan tomorrow.

Most districts in Punjab, including Lahore, may see rain, with additional rainfall anticipated on January 5, likely intensifying the cold conditions.

Severe fog is expected to continue during the mornings and evenings in Punjab, further hampering travel. In Lahore, minimum temperatures have been recorded at 6 degrees Celsius, with a maximum expected to reach around 15 degrees Celsius.
