The incident occurred on January 1, leading to slashes on Sharif’s face and body, which required stitches and local medical care within the facility.

A spokesperson for the Prison Service confirmed the assault, stating, “police are investigating an assault on a prisoner at HMP Belmarsh. It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.”

They added that “the 43-year-old suffered non life-threatening injuries”.

Sharif reportedly sustained cuts to his neck and face and is believed to have received medical care while in prison.

The Metropolitan Police are also looking into the incident, noting that Sharif, 43, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Belmarsh is a Category A jail in south-east London housing some of the UK’s most dangerous prisoners.

In December, Sharif and his partner, Beinash Batool, were sentenced for years of horrific abuse that ultimately resulted in Sara’s tragic death. The court revealed that the young girl endured “unimaginable pain, misery, and anxiety,” having been subjected to repeated beatings, burns, and restraints.
