The decision was made in response to a request from the Deputy Commissioner of Kurram, who emphasized the need for direct wheat distribution to citizens rather than through flour mills. Previously, the provincial cabinet had approved the provision of wheat solely to flour mills in the area.

Chief Minister Gandapur acknowledged the challenges faced by the people of Kurram due to the tense situation and directed the Food Department and district administration to implement the wheat supply immediately.

The need for this intervention has been underscored by recent violence in the Kurram region, where clashes have resulted in at least 130 deaths and 186 injuries.

Hospital sources reported that residents have been struggling with shortages of essential items, including oil, food, and medicines, due to prolonged road closures and the disruption of the main highway.
