In a recent meeting chaired by Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB Governing Board convened in Islamabad to discuss matters related to the Champions Trophy.

Sources indicate that the chairman confirmed that arrangements with the ICC and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have been finalized.

Delays in formalizing the agreement were attributed to the need for documentation, but the Champions Trophy schedule is expected to be announced soon.

The PCB Governing Board has officially endorsed the chairman’s decisions. Naqvi mentioned that while India has requested compensation for not sending its team, the PCB refused to make any compromises.

Instead, they proposed a model where, for the next three years, teams from both countries would not travel to each other’s nations for ICC events.

Additionally, the PCB has secured the hosting rights for a women’s tournament in 2028.

During the discussions, it was highlighted that with no other tournaments scheduled in Pakistan over the next three years, the ICC assured that an event would be organized in the country to mitigate the financial impact of the Indian team’s absence from the Champions Trophy.

The meeting also indicated that the ICC might limit its announcement to the Champions Trophy for the time being, and while the three-year agreement is not guaranteed for announcement, it remains a possibility.
