PIA may face potential disruptions in Europe flight operations after ban lifted

Following the recent lifting of the ban, concerns have emerged that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) may face disruptions in its Europe flight operations.

According to details, due to alleged negligence and poor performance by PIA’s engineering management, 17 aircraft out of a fleet of 34 have been grounded, raising fears about the impact on European flight operations.

Sources indicate that out of 12 Boeing 777 aircraft, 7 are grounded, and among 17 Airbus A320 aircraft, 7 are also grounded. Additionally, only 2 out of 5 ATR aircraft are currently participating in flight operations.

Most of the grounded aircraft are facing issues related to missing engines, landing gear, APU, and other parts, resulting in millions of dollars in losses for the national airline.

Sources further reveal that many of PIA’s aircraft have been grounded for several years, with most parts from these grounded planes being used in other aircraft.

There are concerns that the grounding of the 777 aircraft may disrupt the upcoming flight operations to Paris. The European Safety Agency (EASA) has made it clear to the national airline that strict inspections will be conducted on aircraft arriving in Europe following the lifting of the ban, and close monitoring will be enforced.
