Following successful negotiations between the Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee (JKJAAC) and the government, the Azad Kashmir administration announced the withdrawal of the controversial presidential ordinance.

The government has also released a notification regarding the repeal of the ordinance. In a statement, the Public Action Committee declared an end to their protests, confirming that the government had rescinded the ordinance.

The statement from the Public Action Committee noted that all detainees have been released, the employment of Sohaib Arif has been reinstated, and compensation will be provided to those injured during recent clashes.

It is important to mention that the President of Azad Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, had previously directed the government to promptly withdraw the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Ordinance. He also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar Haq regarding this matter, prompting immediate action from the Azad Kashmir government.

The Public Action Committee had initiated a long march after negotiations with the ministers’ committee failed to yield results.
