The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting rain accompanied by strong winds across many parts of the country, starting today, December 8. The PMD anticipates a cold wave affecting most regions.

Islamabad and surrounding areas are expected to experience rain with strong winds and thunderstorms. Similar conditions, including thunderstorms, are predicted for Rawalpindi, Attock, Jehlum, Chakwal, Lahore, and Faisalabad.

Lighter to moderate rain and snowfall is forecast for Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding areas. Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Malakand are expected to see rain, with snowfall in the mountainous regions.

The PMD anticipates Sindh to experience cold, dry weather, while Balochistan will remain cold. Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to receive rain, with snowfall in the mountains.

According to the PMD, the lowest temperatures recorded yesterday were -10°C in Leh and -9°C in Skardu. Other minimum temperatures included 1°C in Murree, 3°C in Islamabad and Peshawar, 4°C in Muzaffarabad, 8°C in Lahore, 7°C in Faisalabad, 12°C in Gwadar, and 14°C in Karachi.

Lahore is expected to experience light rain today and tomorrow, further intensifying the cold. The minimum temperature in Lahore is recorded at 7°C, with a maximum expected to reach 17°C. Wind speeds are predicted at 14 kilometers per hour, with humidity levels reaching 65%.

The increased cold has led to a noticeable decrease in smog levels. However, Lahore remains the second most polluted city in Pakistan today, with an average smog level reaching 190.
