According to a story in The News, This decision followed a summary submitted to the Prime Minister by the Interior Ministry, highlighting the need for increased police presence to maintain security in Islamabad.

The Management Services Wing of the Establishment Division endorsed the proposal.

The newly approved positions are distributed as follows: 24 inspectors (Grade-16), 50 sub-inspectors, 100 assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), 180 head constables, and 1,580 constables.

The Interior Ministry has been officially notified of the Prime Minister’s approval and will now seek final approval from the Finance Division before proceeding with recruitment.

This expansion builds upon a previous allocation of 1,000 police positions, specifically designated for the protection of foreign nationals, primarily Chinese citizens. These officers will be assigned to the Special Protection Unit (SPU).
