“We cannot match the politics of Quaid-e-Azam or Gandhi. I don’t even have the right to match him. If such movements can be run at that time then why not today?” he said while appearing on Rubaroo which was aired on Aaj News on Friday.

Earlier in the day, jailed former prime minister Imran Khan revealed his “trump card” by warning the government against a civil disobedience movement on December 14 if his demands were not met.

He has called for the release of what he terms “political prisoners” facing trial and the establishment of a judicial commission to investigate both the May 9, 2023, events and the November 26 crackdown on PTI protesters.

Khan claimed at least 12 PTI workers were killed and 1,000 arrested during the protest while the government counters that three law enforcement officers died and denies using live ammunition.

In response to a question, Raza clarified that he was not dissatisfied with the party and resigned from the PTI’s Core Committee on self-accountability and against state brutality. Raza added that Khan asked him to continue his role in any case.

He clarified that there were no disagreements within the party and added that some people were making suspense over differences of opinion among leaders.

“Some people on the ground have different facts related to November 26. I don’t think there is anything serious.”

Raza added that as per the PTI founder’s direction, Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub would tell the next course of action.

He described the recent political meetings of the ruling coalition leaders with the JUI-F chief as “drama”, alleging that everyone was trying to save their skin.

The SIC chief advised the government to be careful with such meetings as Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s party has warned against Islamabad protests if the seminary bill was not signed.
