Ahmadi man killed in axe attack in Rawalpindi, community says

A 40-year-old Ahmadi man was allegedly killed by an axe attack in Rawalpindi on Thursday, a spokesman for the community said. However, the police is yet to file a case regarding the incident, sources told Aaj News.

According to a statement by Jamaat Ahamddiya spokesperson Aamir Mahmood, Tayyab was visiting his brother’s shop where he was fatally attacked. The incident occurred in an oil shop in a private housing society within the jurisdiction of the Dhamial Police Station.

Tayyab has left behind a widow. However, his brother survived the attack.

The attacker allegedly shouted anti-Ahmadi slurs while he carried out the attack.

“Some days ago, extremists had also attacked his brother’s shop by throwing stones at it and were issuing constant threats. Mr. Tayyab’s brother was constantly receiving threats and very recently moved his family out of Rawalpindi,” the statement said.

“hese incidents defame the name of our beloved Pakistan. The government must put an end to the hate speech and violence against the Community.” the statement added.

However, police sources confirmed to Aaj News that no FIR had been filed as of Friday.
