Aaj News’ Spotlight confirms another PTI supporter killed in Islamabad firing

A day after reporting that at least six supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf were killed in the firing, Aaj News’ programme Spotlight with Munizae Jahangir confirmed that another supporter of former prime minister Imran Khan’s party was killed in the Islamabad firing.

Amid conflicting reports over the death toll in the PTI Islamabad protest, Spotlight conducted its investigation and tried to check the veracity of claims. Munizae’s team confirmed that seven protesters were killed, including one in a car accident.

The government has reiterated that no one was killed in protest despite the Khan’s party’s claims that their supporters were killed.

Munizae shared the details of another deceased protester on her news programme which was aired on Aaj News on Tuesday. The show has the death certificates of deceased persons.

The deceased person was identified as Ahmed Wali from Balochistan’s Pishin. His family confirmed that Wali was shot dead near Islamabad’s D-Chowk and it was his cause of death.

The family claimed that the Balochistan Police were pressuring them to remain silent.

Earlier in the day, Attock DPO Dr Ghayas Gul Khan claimed that at least 89 individuals among protests could not be identified and added that they were “fully trained and armed.”

He alleged that they were individuals of an “Askari wing” and attacked police. “They are the reason for casualties. The shells they used were imported from Brazil.”
