Lahore Ring Road closed for traffic once again

Authorities have once again closed Ring Road in Lahore to traffic in anticipation of further PTI protest activity. Police sources cite security concerns as the reason for the closure, noting that the road had been reopened the previous evening.

The closure came when the party’s protest reached D-Chowk in Islamabad.

Previously, the Punjab provincial government had sealed all entry and exit points to Lahore to preempt the protests, partially reopening some routes the day before. Ring Road was also temporarily reopened with heightened security measures.

However, the PTI protest convoy’s arrival to D-Chowk has prompted the renewed closure in Lahore.

The continued road closures are causing concerns about fuel shortages in the Gujranwala region, and are already leading to shortages and price increases (doubled in some cases) for vegetables, fruits, and poultry.

Similar concerns about fuel shortages and disruptions are being reported in Head Marala due to road closures affecting travel and daily life.
