Chief Secretary KP has issued a notification to all government departments, confirming that all future recruitments will be conducted on an open merit basis.

This decision follows the Supreme Court’s ruling against the practice of quota appointments, with the KP government emphasizing that any appointments made without merit will be deemed unconstitutional.

However, the new policy will not affect compensation packages for the families of martyred law enforcement personnel and civil servants who lost their lives in terrorist incidents.

In a related move, the Punjab government has also made amendments to the Punjab Civil Servants Act of 1974, specifically abolishing Rule 17-A.
