This action follows reports from consumers indicating that these establishments were engaged in fraudulent practices.

The measures are part of FBR’s broader initiative to incorporate Tier-1 retailers and restaurants into the tax system through a Point of Sale (POS) invoicing framework.

Following an investigation using POS tracking software. According to FBR, a team from the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Islamabad, led by the Deputy Commissioner, confirmed the authenticity issues with the receipts and proceeded to seal the restaurants, imposing a total penalty of Rs. 1.5 million.

Additionally, FBR recently launched the Point of Sales Prize Scheme, effective from October 25. This scheme, initially introduced in Islamabad for Tier-1 restaurants, aims to expand to all Tier retailers nationwide by the end of the month.

Under this program, citizens who report counterfeit receipts via the Tax Asaan APP will be eligible for cash rewards.
