PTI outlines four demands for ending protests

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has outlined four demands aimed at concluding its protests, which are scheduled to be held in the last week of this month for the “restoration” of democracy and judiciary.

On Wednesday, incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan called for a “final march” towards Islamabad on November 24, providing party leaders with a “comprehensive” protest plan. He has also established a committee to facilitate negotiations.

This committee, formed by the PTI founder, will lead the protests and is empowered to negotiate and end the demonstrations. Any party member wishing to engage in discussions will do so through the committee.

The PTI has set forth the following four demands as part of its negotiations to bring an end to the protests.

Repeal of the 26th Constitutional Amendment

Restoration of the Constitution to its original form

The return of the ‘stolen mandate’

The release of political prisoners held “without trial”

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub stated that the supremacy of the Constitution and law was their “primary” demand.

“All individuals, including Imran Khan, who have been wrongfully imprisoned through fabricated cases, should be released,” he said on Wednesday and called for new elections in the country.

He added that the party does not seek any relief from anyone. Relief will come automatically when conditions are met.“
