The decision comes amidst widespread concern expressed by government officials and various sectors of Pakistani society.

Sources within the government indicate that a high-level meeting will be convened upon the return of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who also serves as the patron-in-chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The meeting will include representatives from the PCB, the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, and other key stakeholders.

The meeting will seek input from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior, as well as security agency heads. The PCB will present alternative proposals and options to address the situation. The meeting will review India’s letter to the ICC explaining their decision, Pakistan’s response, and all available options in the event of India’s continued absence.

The PCB has begun preparing recommendations for the meeting. A formal government decision will be made after consultations with all parties involved.
