Will government announce public holiday on November 9?

Many people have wondered whether the government would announced a public holiday on November 9 or nor in the observance of the Iqbal Day. By Sunday, the government had not issued any notification regarding the holiday.

Last year, the government announced the public holiday for November 9.

Born on November 9, 1877, in Sialkot, Allama Iqbal emerged as a significant figure in the subcontinent, playing a crucial role in the Pakistan movement.

As a modern Sufi poet, Iqbal inspired a revolutionary spirit among the nation through his impactful poetry. His literary works have been translated into various languages, including Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, and English, establishing him as a notable philosopher on the global stage.

Tragically, Iqbal did not live to see Pakistan’s independence, passing away on April 21, 1938.

It merits mentioning here that November 9 is mentioned in the list of public holidays notification, which was issued at the start of this year.

There are as many as eleven public holidays, according to the circular issued by the government on December 12, 2023. There are three bank holidays, but not for the employees. And the list of optional holidays goes to 22.

But the government has clarified that in the case of Muslim festivals, the dates of holidays are based on anticipated dates and are subject to the appearance of moon.
