Government to strengthen border security with biometric machines at airports

The government has announced plans to bolster border security by implementing biometric machines at all airports nationwide, according to media reports.

The interior ministry has instructed the Federal Investigation Agency to take “swift action” on the installation of such machines.

As part of the initiative, biometric verification would be required for international travellers, a measure aimed at making it difficult for fugitives and wanted criminals to travel both domestically and internationally.

Biometric machines would be set up at international immigration counters in airports to ensure thorough verification of passengers.

Earlier this week, the provincial administration held a meeting to evaluate and strengthen security measures designed to protect Chinese nationals involved in various projects across the province.

The administration was prompted by a tragic incident on October 6 when a deadly attack at Karachi airport resulted in the deaths of two Chinese engineers.
