In response to these conditions, the Punjab Education Department has announced a change in school timings, with all public and private schools now starting classes at 8:45 AM. In Layyah, six brick kilns that failed to switch to zigzag technology have been dismantled, while four kilns in Sheikhupura and one in Rawalpindi have also been taken down.

Authorities have penalized 234 vehicles for emitting smoke, impounding 72 and imposing fines totaling 530,000 rupees.

Maryam Aurangzeb, Senior Provincial Minister, urged Lahore residents to take proactive steps in combating smog.

She called on citizens to participate in the anti-smog action plan, refrain from contributing to pollution, and report smog-related activities by calling 1-373.
