According to the National Disaster Management Authority, the “system is currently situated near the Lakshadweep Valley” and is projected to move northwestward.

“Initial forecasts indicate a possible landfall along the Pakistani coastline in the third week of October 2024, contingent upon its path and strength,” the NDMA said in a statement on Monday.

The authority highlighted that this low-pressure system could potentially develop into a tropical cyclone, posing a risk to the coastal areas of Pakistan.

The NDMA has advised citizens and stakeholders, particularly those living in coastal areas, to remain vigilant and keep up with official updates and advisories as the situation regarding the developing storm evolves.

It emphasised that it is monitoring the situation in coordination with relevant departments to provide timely updates as needed. “Residents are encouraged to stay informed to ensure their safety and preparedness.”
