The Israeli military stated that the air force targeted Safiuddin, a senior Hezbollah leader, during the bombing of Lebanon’s capital, American news website Axios reported.

Reports indicated that Safiuddin was likely to succeed Syed Hassan Nasrallah as the Secretary General of Hezbollah.

An Israeli official stated that Safiuddin was in a deep underground bunker, and it remains uncertain whether he was killed in the airstrike.

While Hezbollah has not officially confirmed or denied Israel’s claims, witnesses reported hearing explosions near the airport and seeing smoke rising from the area.
