The Pakistani government has addressed the concerns of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), regarding the proposed constitutional amendments. PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari played a key role in mediating between the government and JUI-F.

Sources indicate that Maulana Fazlur Rehman will now support the government’s proposed amendments. The amendments constitute a comprehensive package that includes the establishment of a Constitutional Court and a new procedure for appointing judges to this court.

According to sources, the Constitutional Court will have a new set of judges, and its establishment aims to provide relief to ordinary citizens.

Sources further reveal that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari acted as a mediator between the government and Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

During a meeting last night, Bhutto Zardari and Fazlur Rehman resolved their differences, paving the way for the constitutional amendments to be presented in the National Assembly and Senate today.
