They were identified as a mother, son, and daughter from Bahawalpur. They were on their way to Iraq for pilgrimage via Iran.

Pakistan and Iran share a border of roughly 750km (466 miles) located in Balochistan and Iran’s southeast.

Every year, several pilgrims travel to Iran and Iraq via the Taftan border. Similar health precautions were taken when the coronavirus hit the world.

The Iranian government has issued a letter to its health ministry, stating that all pilgrims arriving from Pakistan must undergo tests before being allowed to proceed.

The letter also requests that all pilgrims be required to present a mpox check-up certificate along with their travel documents.
