According to police, the incident occurred in the Samsani area due to a domestic dispute and the girl’s desire to marry someone of her own choice. The father, in collaboration with his cousin, attempted to throw his daughter into the River Ravi.

Police further stated that a local security guard witnessed the incident on Katar Bund Road and alerted the authorities through the 15 emergency hotline. A Dolphin patrol team promptly reached the scene and rescued the girl.

The girl has been identified as Sania Kanwal. She revealed that her father intended to kill her by throwing her into the River Ravi.

Her father, Barkat Ali, and his cousin, Muhammad Amin, have been taken into custody. The victim and the suspects have been handed over to the Chohang Police Station.
