Jemima discloses blocking emails from Pakistan due to cyberbullying

The former wife of Imran Khan, Jemima Goldsmith, has revealed that she has had to block emails from Pakistan due to alleged cyber harassment.

In a statement posted on her Instagram and X accounts on Friday, Goldsmith blamed the opponents of her ex-husband’s political party, the PTI, for this “cyber harassment operation” against her.

She said: “To friends in Pakistan who are legitimately trying to contact me - I have had to block all emails from Pakistan thanks to a cyber harassment operation against me, no doubt instigated by PTI’s desperate opponents.”

Goldsmith also noted that her statement on the X platform (formerly Twitter) would only be visible to users accessing the platform through VPNs, as it is currently banned in Pakistan “by said desperate opponents.”

Goldsmith quipped, “Pakistani politics, the gift that keeps on giving even after leaving the country 20 years ago,” apparently referencing the long-standing social media campaigns against her due to her past relationship with Imran Khan.

Even though many social media users often admire Goldsmith, the critics of her ex-spouse have targeted her using misogynistic and racist language.

When former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was self-exiled in London between 2019 and 2023, supporters of Sharif’s party, the PML-N, staged demonstrations outside the Surrey home of Goldsmith’s mother. Some reports indicated that the protesters threatened to break into the residence if Goldsmith did not come out.

The PML-N supporters claimed this was “payback” for the PTI staging frequent protests outside the Avenfield House, where Sharif was living.

Goldsmith lived in Pakistan when she was married to Khan from 1995 to 2004. They had two sons together, Sulaiman and Kasim.
