Marvel refutes ‘X-Men ‘97’ creator’s claims of credit removal over social media post

Marvel Studios has hit back at the claims made by Beau DeMayo, the former head writer of the upcoming “X-Men ’97” series, regarding the stripping of his season 2 credits.

In a tweet earlier this week, DeMayo alleged that Marvel had notified him on June 13 that they would be removing his credits for the second season of the show, citing his social media post for Pride month as the reason.

However, Marvel has now issued a statement refuting DeMayo’s claims. A spokesperson for the entertainment giant stated that DeMayo was actually terminated in March 2024 following an “internal investigation” that uncovered “egregious” findings about his behavior.

As a result, Marvel said they immediately severed ties with him and he no longer has any affiliation with the company.

Additionally, sources familiar with the matter told The Hollywood Reporter that after DeMayo’s exit, an agreement was reached between the two parties regarding his continued tweeting about the show, and it was due to these breaches that his season 2 credits were ultimately removed.
