Islamabad administration bans sale of horns, whistles

The district administration of Islamabad has banned the sale of horns and whistles, locally known as bajas, within the capital city limits.

“The stock, sale, purchase, and use of horns/whistles [baja] in Islamabad, is likely to disturb public peace and tranquillity and also cause nuisance within the revenue limits of Islamabad district,” said the August 8 dated notification.

The order would remain in force for 10 days.

The Islamabad district commissioner has directed all assistant commissioners to confiscate stalls selling the above-mentioned items.

“The use or sale of firecrackers will result in legal action against the offenders,” the DC said and stressed the need for ensuring the safety of the public.

Such stalls are setup in every city ahead of Independence Day. People have complained about the noise pollution because of such toys and children’s safety.

Pakistan celebrates its Independence Day on August 14 with traditional zeal and fervour. It is reported that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would reveal a new economic plan on Wednesday.
