Sindh govt decides to move Karachi bus terminals out of city

The Sindh government has announced that all the bus terminals in Karachi will be moved out of the city’s busy areas as early as August 14, in order to reduce traffic congestion on the roads.

To assist passengers in reaching these new terminal locations, a free shuttle service will be provided starting on August 14.

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced the decision after a meeting, directing that all old bus terminals be relocated to new sites.

The minister also stated that a police checkpoint will be established at the new Karachi bus terminal to ensure security.

The shuttle service will operate from locations such as Cantt Station, Sagheer Shaheed Road, MA Jinnah Road, and Al-Karam Square to transport passengers to the new terminal sites.

The minister emphasized that these steps are being taken with the interests of all stakeholders in mind.

“Steps will taken in way that it does not harm transporters, while passengers also get relief,” Memon stated.

“Citizens are facing problems due to the heavy vehicles, while pressure on the roads is also increasing,” he said.

The minister wrote on his X: “Great news for #Karachi & Transport Dept #GovtofSindh is moving bus stands out of the city and starting a free shuttle service from old bus stands to the new #KarachiBusTerminal from Aug 14. Modern facilities and a police check post at #KarachiBusTerminal ensure safety and convenience for all travelers.”
