In March 2023, just two months after the publication of Prince Harry’s memoir ‘Spare’, a spokesperson confirmed that the couple had been “requested to vacate their residence.” This led to speculation that King Charles III was planning to move his younger brother, Prince Andrew, into the cottage.

However, according to a Buckingham Palace official, the cottage remains vacant as of Tuesday.

Newsweek’s chief royal correspondent Jack Royston told Sky News that “Charles wants him [Prince Andrew] to move in. He is refusing to move in, and Charles so far is not winning this battle.”

The cottage, located on the grounds of Windsor Castle, was offered to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by Queen Elizabeth II in 2019, prior to the birth of their son, Archie.

After their split from the royal family in 2020, the couple paid back the public funds used for the property’s renovation.
