Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa had called a meeting of the Judicial Commission on July 19 to discuss the nominations of four individuals for ad-hoc judges.

According to media reports, Justice Alam wrote a letter to the Judicial Commission stating that he was deeply disappointed by the social media campaign that emerged after his nomination.

He expressed that he felt he had been given more honor than he deserved and that he was unable to serve as an ad-hoc judge under the current circumstances.

Justice Alam also mentioned his involvement in charitable activities.

Meanwhile, Geo News reported that Justice (retd) Tariq Masood and Justice (retd) Mazhar Alam have expressed their willingness to be appointed as an ad-hoc apex court judge.

The report while citing sources stated that Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar has so far not responded to the SC’s decision.

The Chief Justice had initially nominated Justice (r) Mushir Alam, Justice (r) Maqbool Baqir, Justice (r) Mazhar Alam, and Justice (r) Sardar Tariq Masood for the ad-hoc judge positions.
