The complaint was filed by an Indian woman who worked as a domestic helper at the diplomat’s residence in central Delhi. The accused had been employed as a cook at the residence since February.

As per the police, the woman filed her complaint against the man on June 28in the Tilak Marg area. The suspect is said to be 54 years old.

Based on her complaint, a case has been registered under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to assault or use of criminal force with the intent to outrage a woman’s modesty.

The police are currently investigating the matter. Police are also investigating whether the accused has diplomatic immunity.

The police reported that the woman had been working at the diplomat’s residence for a few months and lived in a quarter on the premises. Authorities are looking into whether the accused has returned to his home country.

“We found that the accused came to India from Pakistan in February. We’ve been informed that he was sent back to Pakistan following the complaint, but this has yet to be verified,” the investigation officer was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying.

“We will question the diplomat and other witnesses at the Pakistan High Commission…” the officer added.
