This decision was made following directives from the party’s founding chairman, Imran Khan. Gohar stated that Ayub has been instructed to continue fulfilling his duties as the central secretary general of PTI.

The party’s parliamentary party and core committee had earlier expressed their full confidence in Ayub and unanimously passed resolutions urging Khan and Gohar to not accept his resignation.

This development comes just a day after former PM Khan, who is currently incarcerated, had initially endorsed Ayub’s decision to step down from his party position. This had caused confusion within PTI ranks, with reports of internal rifts within the party.
