This initiative also includes the introduction of “Pink EV Taxis” - a dedicated service for women passengers.

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon made the announcement, stating that the provincial Department of Transport will be operating 200 electric taxis in Karachi, with 50 of them reserved exclusively for women in the form of the Pink EV Taxis.

“These initiatives aim to improve public transportation and provide dedicated services for female passengers,” said Memon.

He emphasized that the government will be specifically recruiting female drivers for the Pink EV Taxis, prioritizing women’s safety and offering cost-effective transportation options for the community.

The announcement of this EV taxi service comes as part of the Sindh government’s efforts to promote sustainable and environmentally-friendly modes of transportation in the province.

It also aligns with the federal government’s push for the adoption of electric vehicles across the country.
