On March 25, 2023, six out of the eight judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) wrote a letter to the Supreme Judicial Council members, Dawn News reported.

In this letter, they raised concerns about attempts to pressure judges through the abduction and torture of their relatives, as well as the secret surveillance of their homes.

On July 3, 2023, Fauzia Siddiqui, a member of the provincial assembly (MPA) from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, claimed in a tweet that Justice Aurangzeb had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the head of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Siddiqui alleged that the intelligence agencies had threatened the families of the judges.

Siddiqui’s tweet was viewed by over 100,000 social media users and was retweeted by several PTI supporters.

However, the IHC has categorically refuted these claims, stating in a press release that the contents of the tweet and other social media posts are “not true” and “baseless”.

The high court responded to a query by iverify a factcheck project of CEJ.
