All those government employees, including retired, and armed forces personnel, including retired, have been given tax exemption from a 10 per cent withholding tax on the sale of their properties.

Moreover, martyrs and wounded personnel have also been given tax exemptions.

Journalist Shahbaz Rana said that an amendment was made to Section 236 C of the Finance Act that deals with the transfer of plots by anyone and there are different taxes for filer, late filer and non-filer.

“The expression or a war-wounded person while in service of Pakistan Armed Forces or Federal or Provincial Government or an ex-serviceman and serving personnel of armed forces or ex-employees or serving personnel of Federal and Provincial Government shall be inserted,” he said while reading the amendment.
