The risk of heat stroke-related deaths has increased in the impoverished areas of Karachi due to the severe heatwave. In the past 9 hours, 12 bodies were brought to the New Karachi Hospital, and all the deceased were over the age of 35.

According to New Karachi Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Hussain, the bodies were brought by welfare organization ambulances.

He said that all the deaths are suspected to be caused by heat stroke. After examination, the bodies were referred to other nearby teaching hospitals.

The sight of multiple bodies arriving in ambulances has also caused fear among the hospital’s other patients, Hussain reported.

The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has demanded that no electricity load be shed during the current heatwave.

PMA Secretary General Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Shoro has expressed concern about rising deaths due to the severe heatwave.

Around 212 heat stroke cases were reported in Karachi today. The health department has released the data from various hospitals in Karachi.

The central district of Karachi has seen the highest number of people affected by heat stroke, with 98 cases reported in that area.

In the eastern district, there were 6 heat stroke cases, 18 in Korangi, and 14 in Malir.

Around 40 cases were reported in the southern district and 30 cases were notified from the western district with 200 patients being provided initial medical assistance and were discharged.
