PTI workers surround Omar Ayub after iddat verdict, demand agitation

A heated confrontation erupted outside the District Court in Islamabad as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers expressed outrage after the appeals against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s sentences in the unlawful marriage case (also known as iddat case) were rejected.

The workers surrounded PTI leaders, including Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, and Senator Faisal Javed Khan, as they emerged from the court. The leaders appeared visibly distressed and concerned.

Senator Azam Swati, who was also present, quickly separated himself from the leaders and joined the protestors on the road, chanting slogans.

While Omar Ayub announced that the decision would be challenged in the High Court, the workers, many of whom were from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, grew increasingly agitated.

They accused their leadership of cowardice, demanding a sit-in instead of going home. They repeatedly questioned why the leadership was not calling for protests.

The workers surrounded Omar Ayub, demanding a call for protest. A heated exchange ensued, with some pushing and shoving. The workers threatened the leadership, stating they would not spare them if anything happened to Imran Khan.

Omar Ayub eventually managed to escape the crowd by boarding his official vehicle.

The protestors demanded that Omar Ayub call for a protest to secure the release of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
