In his letter, Superintendent Saleem Tareen expressed grave concerns about the prolonged power cut, stating that it has significantly increased security vulnerabilities within the jail.

Despite repeated requests, the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) has failed to restore electricity, leaving the jail in a precarious state.

The superintendent further emphasized the ongoing extreme heat conditions which pose a serious threat of heatstroke to the inmates.

The lack of electricity has also disrupted essential services like water supply and ventilation, further exacerbating the already challenging situation.

It is reported that QESCO disconnected the jail’s electricity two days ago due to non-payment of dues amounting to 30 million rupees.
