Additionally, the precipitation has been advantageous for the sugarcane crop, which also necessitates a large amount of water.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted above-normal rainfall for the current year across much of the country, which is expected to help alleviate water issues.

The weather agency noted that widespread thunderstorms and windstorms brought significant rainfall to upper Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan over the last 24 hours.
