Pakistani woman delivers boy on Mount Arafat in Saudi Arabia

In an auspicious moment during this year’s Hajj pilgrimage, a Pakistani woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy on the sacred Mount Arafat on Saturday, the Day of Arafat.

The newborn, weighing in at 3.04kg, has been aptly named “Arafat” in honour of the revered location where the momentous event took place, Gulf News reported.

The mother, who has requested to remain anonymous, was in her 37th week of pregnancy when she went into labour amidst the millions of pilgrims gathered on the mountain.

“The birth of a child is always a blessing, but witnessing it during Hajj is particularly special,” said Dr Amina Al Sheikh, who led the medical team that attended to the delivery. Both the mother and the baby are reported to be in stable condition and under observation for further check-ups.

The Day of Arafat holds immense spiritual significance in the Islamic calendar, as it symbolises forgiveness and mercy. The arrival of baby Arafat has added a unique and divine touch to this year’s holy pilgrimage for his parents and the broader Muslim community.
