Now the PM Office has retracted the earlier announcement adding to the confusion.

The state broadcaster PTV initially reported Friday night that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had directed the Ministry of Finance to significantly reduce the price of petrol by Rs 15.40 per liter and diesel by Rs 7.90 per liter.

But the actual price reduction was far less than the announcement.

This created the impression that the Petroleum Division had ignored the Prime Minister’s directive and only made a nominal reduction in prices.

The initial post made on the PTV “X” account regarding the Prime Minister’s directive was later deleted.

A new post was then made, clarifying that the “earlier statement mentioned a reduction of Rs 15.4 in petrol price and Rs 7.9 in diesel price, which referred to the reduction in prices last month”. Furthermore, an additional reduction has been made in the prices of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas).
