The Peshawar BRT is facing an annual deficit of over Rs3 billion. To address this, the provincial budget allocated Rs3 billion in subsidies for the BRT.

A meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Advisor, Muzammil Aslam, discussed increasing fares to reduce costs and increase revenue. According to documents, the final decision on fare increases will be made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Urban Mobility Authority (KPUMA) board.

The meeting also directed the introduction of a daily unlimited travel pass for Rs150 for general public. The pass will be available for Rs100 for women, students, transgender individuals, and senior citizens.

The documents state that one rupee per passenger will be allocated towards KPUMA’s operational expenses.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Advisor Muzammil Aslam confirmed the fare increase in an interview, stating that the decision will be made by the KPUMA board.
