Hussain’s daughter had informed Shah about the death of her father. According to the Arts Council of Pakistan president, he had over 40 years of working relationship with Hussain

His on-screen performance inspired a whole generation which was evident by the outpouring of messages on social media.

His fan base was not limited to Pakistan as people loved his short role in Jamil Dehlavi directed movie Jinnah and United Kingdom’s Channel Four television serial Traffik and Family Pride. He won the Amanda Award for the Best Supporting Role in the Norwegian film Import-export.

‘Personal loss’

Actor Adnan Siddiqui described Hussain as a “personal loss”.

“He was there not as a co-actor but guiding force when I did my first ever play, Khwabon Ki Zanjir,” he said and lamented that another of the greats was gone.

Journalist Omair Alavi said that Hussain was one of the best actors of his generation and the “pride of Pakistan.”

“Talat Hussain sadly left us for a better place. Knowing him, meeting him, and interviewing him are the highlights of my career,” he said.

One of the users wrote on social media that Hussain’s death was the “end of an era”.

Sindh MPA Mahesh Kumar Hasija was “deeply saddened” to hear about the passing of Hussain, whom he termed a “legendary artist” whose talent and contributions to the arts in Pakistan were unparalleled.

“His performances left an indelible mark on our hearts and enriched our cultural heritage in countless ways. Talat Hussain’s legacy will live on through his exceptional work and the inspiration he provided to generations of artists.”

Hasija offered condolences to the barefaced family and his fans.

Former Sindh governor Ishratul Ibad was also grieved to hear about Hussain’s death and offered condolences to the grieved family.

“A legendary figure in radio, TV, and cinema, his contributions to the arts will be remembered.”
