In an interview with Brut India, Shah stated that one niche that should be used in films is religion because that is “one of the most harmful things that happened to humanity”. 

He linked this perspective with a film he did in Pakistan, Khuda Kay Liye, which was expressed as the “most important film”.

“I think courageous films should be made on this [religion], which seems to be on all our minds. That is why I would probably choose that, and I consider a film I did in Pakistan many years ago,” the Manthan actor said.

The actor did the film in 2007, which was the Shoaib Mansoor directorial.

The film was about two brothers who were successful singers from Lahore. One brother becomes influenced by a conservative Islamic activist, explaining the journey of both brothers in the name of religion.
