In a statement, Laghari acknowledged the significant progress made in eliminating load shedding during his tenure. He emphasized the government’s efforts to establish power plants to meet the increasing demand.

The minister also addressed the issue of electricity theft, calling it a major problem that needs to be tackled. He reiterated the government’s support for solarization as a sustainable solution.

Laghari revealed that the country’s electricity demand reached approximately 20,000 megawatts on the previous day, with over 4,000 megawatts subjected to economic load shedding. He emphasized the negative impact of electricity theft on the economy.

He further stated that hydropower generation will be added to the system within the next 6-7 years. He acknowledged issues with overbilling and announced stricter monitoring of government offices to address the problem.
